With the days warming up, what better way to enjoy than some music? Now that the weather is warmer and our heavy jackets and boots put away, it’s time to enjoy ourselves. And what better way is there to enjoy ourselves than to swag our hips, nod our heads to some of the the upcoming concerts. Whether you’re interested in Rock, Metal, Blues, Reggae, Folk, Country, Indie or Hip-hop, you got a concert to be looking forward to. For the month of May, we got many artists in the city. If you’re interested in Rock or Gothic music we got the band We are the Fallen. The band includes former members of Evanescence as well as one of the contestants of American Idol- Carly Smithson who is the lead singer. The band will be playing Tues May 18th 2010 at El Mocambo which is located on Spadina Avenue. Love rock and metal? Well you got Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper hitting the Molson Amphitheatre on May 21 2010.
The two have paired up for a short North American tour and are known for their violent stage shows. Not so metal and rock but country and pop? She has been nominated for music awards and had all her shows sold out on her 2009 Fearless Tour, Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift will be playing 37 shows across North America in her 2010 Fearless Tour. She will be in Toronto on Friday May 21 and Saturday May 22 2010 at Air Canada Centre. Interested in Indie music? Well than get ready for Fyfe Dangerfield. He is best known lead singer of the Guillemots which is a band that was nominated for the Mercury Prize in the UK. Being solo now Dangerfield is on tour and will be performing at El Mocambo on Sunday May 23 2010. With a mix of blues and folk, Xavier Rudd and Izintaba head to Toronto to perform on May 20 and 21 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
With his latest album, Koonyum Sun, Xavier Rudd brings music from across the world including blues, funk, reggae and folk. Rudd has worked with the Inzaitaba in his album who will also be on tour with him.
Even if you can’t make it to the fabulous concerts in May, there are many more amazing concerts in the upcoming months. We have a group of Canadian musicians who are coming together to dedicate the concert to an organization (Alli’s Journey) which supports young adults with cancer. We have artists such as Jully Black who is an R&B singer who has won an award at the Junos, Amanda Martinez who is a Latin/Jazz singer and indie bands such as the Ohbijou and many more artists on June 9 at the Koerner Hall. If you love gaga, than get ready for Lady Gaga’s tour- The Monster Ball. The concert will be held on July 11 2010 at the Air Canada Centre. With great music coming our way, Toronto will be filled with great music for the next few months. Regardless of your music taste, there is a concert for you. Get your tickets ahead of time for your favourite bands and enjoy the music that fits your soul.
