It is amazing how popular Internet chats have become over the past decade. The most popular search word used along with ‘Toronto’ is now ‘chat’. The data shows it is now twice as large as the closet term.

When you do a Google search for ‘Toronto Chat’, the result page is filled with dating and friendship sites with only a couple of exceptions including Global Mail chat. I guess they figured it is a popular search term. One friendship site claims it is getting 900,000 visits on a daily basis. It is quite impressive given GTA population is about 5.6 Million.

Now, let’s examine each site more closely. Plentyoffish.com traffic is larger that all the other sites combined with users that are mainly between 25-34 and some between 45-54 years old. In most cases they have some college education. It is also not clear why plentyoffish.com is tagged as a chat site versus a dating site ?
